Married to teacher Gabriella Peroni (1964), he had two children, Alessandra and Leonardo.<br data-start=\"214\" data-end=\"217\">With a humanities background, he learned the craft of painting from an early age under the guidance of G.U. Caselli and Gino Bellani.<br \/>\n<strong>From 1957 to 1964<\/strong> he presented his first solo shows and took part in numerous collective shows in many Italian towns. The creative language of this first period was figurative and greatly influenced by German Expressionism.<br \/>\n<strong>From 1965 to 1969<\/strong> he had a second studio in Genoa where he carried out research on visual languages and was in close contact with poets (Gruppo 63) and artists from the Italian experimental avant-garde (&#8220;Trerosso&#8221; from Genoa, &#8220;&#8217;70&#8221; from Florence, &#8220;LineaSud&#8221; from Naples), with whom he organized conferences and exhibitions.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1970<\/strong> he moved his second studio to Rome, where he perfected his knowledge of chalcography techniques, making many etchings. He associated with artists such as Marini, Gentilini, Raphael Mafai, Zancanaro, Guttuso, V. Tavernari, Fieschi.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1973<\/strong> the first monograph dedicated to his work was published by the Macchi Gallery of Pisa, with a preface by the art historian Enzo Carli and the poet Dino Carlesi. Numerous exhibitions were held of his work in Italy and Switzerland, and he received prestigious awards. Giochi di gabbiani all&#8217;alba: 1974-75<br \/>\n<strong>In 1976<\/strong> and until 1990 he moved his second studio to Milan. The relationship with corporeality, physical, psychological and historical space were the new main conceptual focuses of his work in these years, as Madeleine Guignard clearly perceived in her catalogue presentation for the exhibition which the University of Clermont Ferrand dedicated to him in February 1976.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1977<\/strong>, the publishers Edi\/Albra of Turin published a new monograph on his work entitled &#8220;Eclisse&#8221; (&#8220;Eclipse&#8221;) edited by Franco Solmi, director of the Modern Art Gallery of Bologna. In this period (1977-1990) shows of his work were held in museums, universities and private galleries in Italy in: Monza, Venice, Milan, Ferrara, Gallarate, Bergamo, La Spezia, Reggio Emilia, Parma, Turin, Lerici, Florence, Pisa, San Marino, Massa, Piombino, Viterbo; and abroad in: Stockholm (where he opened a new studio) Cardiff, Helsinki, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Forssa, Los Angeles, Munich, Paris, Seloncourt, Reykjavik.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1986<\/strong> a new book about his work edited by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, director of the International University of Art in Florence, entitled &#8220;Francesco Vaccarone, omaggio al Golfo dei Poeti&#8221; (&#8220;Francesco Vaccarone, homage to the Gulf of the Poets)&#8221; was published, and in the same year he was invited with three large works to the IXth National Quadriennale in Rome, in the historical section &#8220;Emerging trends in Italian Art from 1950 to 1980&#8221;.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1988<\/strong> he received the &#8220;Do Forni&#8221; international award for graphic art in Venice and the Murano award.<br \/>\nVolo di gabbiani all&#8217;alba: 1973<br \/>\n<strong>In 1990<\/strong> a large anthological exhibition of his work was held at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara and a new monograph was published for the occasion, entitled &#8220;From dawn to dusk&#8221;, by Mich\u00e8le Lavall\u00e9e, director of the Strasbourg Museums, and Enzo Di Marino, director of the International Graphic Art Centre in Venice. In 2003, to emphasise his commitment to the knowledge and propagation of artistic languages and in defence of their freedom he received the Silone Prize in Italy, while the Constantinian University of the State of Rhode Island USA awarded him a degree honoris causa in aesthetics.<br \/>\n<strong>From 2000 and 2004<\/strong> he held a cycle of conferences in universities in Poland, where numerous exhibitions of his work were organised. Anthological exhibitions followed in Havana, Marina di Massa, Framura (for Ezra Pound), Noceto in Emilia, where he also created a large marble sculpture dedicated to peace. On this occasion a new book was published, by Francesco Barocelli, art historian of the University of Parma, which contained a critical anthology of selected texts by numerous experts and contemporary artists who have taken an interest in Francesco Vacarone&#8217;s work, plus a vast bibliography from 1960 to 2004.<br \/>\nVele, giro di boa: 1986<br \/>\nA solo show, organised by the Egyptian government and the Italian embassy was held in Cairo in Oct 2004, with paintings from 1970 to 2004.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2005<\/strong> he began a cycle of exhibitions in the USA and worked on two large marble low-reliefs dedicated to Pope John Paul II for the Borough of Noceto and inaugurated in April 2006. In this same year the Borough of Parma held an anthological show of his works and in 2008 he completed for this borough a sculpture in Carrara marble, over four metres high, dedicated to Italian peace missions in the world.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2008<\/strong> the Borough of Pisa organized an anthological show in the mediaeval abbey of San Zeno and in the following months he worked on 30 paintings dedicated to Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky for a cycle of exhibitions in Argentina.<br \/>\nHe was invited with three paintings to the show &#8220;Estetika, Forma e Segno, da Renoir a De Chirico&#8221; (&#8220;Aesthetics, Form and Sign, from Renoir to de Chirico&#8221;) at Villa Ponti in Arona, and with the Corsanini laboratory took part with six new sculptures in the XIIIth International Sculpture Biennale of Carrara. Five of his works were shown in the Manege Museum of St. Petersburg in the exhibition &#8220;Masters of 20th-century Italian Art&#8221;. In 2009 the Borough of Rapallo invited him to hold an anthological show in the ancient castle, with a section of 24 paintings dedicated to Ezra Pound.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2010<\/strong> a solo show was organised for him at the European Parliament of Strasbourg, which was later transferred to the Italian Institute of Culture in the same town. Next, in New York he showed a cycle of paintings on jazz at the Lincoln Center.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2011<\/strong> he held a solo show at the Monte Paschi bank in Brussels and was invited to the 54th Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion.<br \/>\nIn the same year in the Camec of La Spezia is ordered his retrospective exhibition with works from 1957 to 2011; the President of the Republic gives the honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2012<\/strong> the Castle of Portovenere is staged a retrospective of visual poems of the sixties and exhibited with Scanavino and Carmi in the exhibition &#8220;Before the Infinite&#8221; at Porto Mirabello.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2013<\/strong> realizes a Obelisk in Carrara marble top 7 meters to his hometown and a group of sculptures in wood for Speziaexp\u00f2; It is called the exhibition &#8220;Eight artists for Anlaids&#8221; to Pelanda Rome.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2014<\/strong> he took part in the exhibition and the Mus-e Foundation Carispe and takes care to Catalogue raisonn\u00e9 of his work (1957 to 2014) that the Publisher Allemandi entrusted to the art historian Valerio Deh\u00f2. <strong>In 2015<\/strong> he was invited to the XVII Biennial of Carpi.<br \/>\nThe Town Hall in Sarzana invited him to hold from October 2015 to January 2016 an anthological exhibition at the Firmafede Fortress and later the Contemporary Art Museum &#8211; Villa Croce in Genoa presented his single-subject exhibition dedicated to his experimental works and to his Visual Poems of the Sixties.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2016<\/strong> he created a public work for the city of La Spezia: the 7 &#8211; metre-high obelisk &#8220;Raggio di Sole&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;Sun Ray&#8221; &#8211; sculpted into Carrara marble.<br \/>\nHe presented 20 works at Camec on the occasion of the Group &#8217;63 50th anniversary &#8211; Group which Vaccarone promoted together with N. Balestrini, E. Sanguineti and U. Eco in La Spezia in 1966.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2017<\/strong> he exhibited 32 works belonging to the exhibition &#8220;Tra Lerice e Turb\u00eca&#8221; at Lerici Castle and at Sala Mantero in Portovenere.<br \/>\nIn the year 2018 he created 25 works dedicated to Wagner&#8217;s music. These were exhibited at the Art Gallery of Bayreuth Municipality in 2019 and then at the 58th Venice Biennale Art Exhibition.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2019<\/strong>, on the occasion of the centenary of the G. Capellini Academy of Sciences, he was appointed Academician.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2021<\/strong> the Municipality of Noceto entrusted him with the task of creating a marble sculpture dedicated to the Covid 19 pandemic and conferred him honorary citizenship. He began painting at a very early age under the guidance of G.U. Caselli and G. Bellani, at the same time pursuing classical and philosophical studies.<br \/>\n<strong>From 1957 to 1964<\/strong> he presented his first solo shows and took part in numerous collective shows in many Italian towns. The creative language of this first period was figurative and greatly influenced by German Expressionism.<br \/>\n<strong>From 1965 to 1969<\/strong> he had a second studio in Genoa where he carried out research on visual languages and was in close contact with poets (Gruppo 63) and artists from the Italian experimental avant-garde (&#8220;Trerosso&#8221; from Genoa, &#8220;&#8217;70&#8221; from Florence, &#8220;LineaSud&#8221; from Naples), with whom he organized conferences and exhibitions.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1970<\/strong> he moved his second studio to Rome, where he perfected his knowledge of chalcography techniques, making many etchings. He associated with artists such as Marini, Gentilini, Raphael Mafai, Zancanaro, Guttuso, V. Tavernari, Fieschi.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1973<\/strong> the first monograph dedicated to his work was published by the Macchi Gallery of Pisa, with a preface by the art historian Enzo Carli and the poet Dino Carlesi. Numerous exhibitions were held of his work in Italy and Switzerland, and he received prestigious awards. Giochi di gabbiani all&#8217;alba: 1974-75<br \/>\n<strong>In 1976<\/strong> and until 1990 he moved his second studio to Milan. The relationship with corporeality, physical, psychological and historical space were the new main conceptual focuses of his work in these years, as Madeleine Guignard clearly perceived in her catalogue presentation for the exhibition which the University of Clermont Ferrand dedicated to him in February 1976.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1977<\/strong>, the publishers Edi\/Albra of Turin published a new monograph on his work entitled &#8220;Eclisse&#8221; (&#8220;Eclipse&#8221;) edited by Franco Solmi, director of the Modern Art Gallery of Bologna. In this period (1977-1990) shows of his work were held in museums, universities and private galleries in Italy in: Monza, Venice, Milan, Ferrara, Gallarate, Bergamo, La Spezia, Reggio Emilia, Parma, Turin, Lerici, Florence, Pisa, San Marino, Massa, Piombino, Viterbo; and abroad in: Stockholm (where he opened a new studio) Cardiff, Helsinki, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Forssa, Los Angeles, Munich, Paris, Seloncourt, Reykjavik.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1986<\/strong> a new book about his work edited by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, director of the International University of Art in Florence, entitled &#8220;Francesco Vaccarone, omaggio al Golfo dei Poeti&#8221; (&#8220;Francesco Vaccarone, homage to the Gulf of the Poets)&#8221; was published, and in the same year he was invited with three large works to the IXth National Quadriennale in Rome, in the historical section &#8220;Emerging trends in Italian Art from 1950 to 1980&#8221;.<br \/>\n<strong>In 1988<\/strong> he received the &#8220;Do Forni&#8221; international award for graphic art in Venice and the Murano award.<br \/>\nVolo di gabbiani all&#8217;alba: 1973<br \/>\n<strong>In 1990<\/strong> a large anthological exhibition of his work was held at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara and a new monograph was published for the occasion, entitled &#8220;From dawn to dusk&#8221;, by Mich\u00e8le Lavall\u00e9e, director of the Strasbourg Museums, and Enzo Di Marino, director of the International Graphic Art Centre in Venice. In 2003, to emphasise his commitment to the knowledge and propagation of artistic languages and in defence of their freedom he received the Silone Prize in Italy, while the Constantinian University of the State of Rhode Island USA awarded him a degree honoris causa in aesthetics.<br \/>\n<strong>From 2000 and 2004<\/strong> he held a cycle of conferences in universities in Poland, where numerous exhibitions of his work were organised. Anthological exhibitions followed in Havana, Marina di Massa, Framura (for Ezra Pound), Noceto in Emilia, where he also created a large marble sculpture dedicated to peace. On this occasion a new book was published, by Francesco Barocelli, art historian of the University of Parma, which contained a critical anthology of selected texts by numerous experts and contemporary artists who have taken an interest in Francesco Vacarone&#8217;s work, plus a vast bibliography from 1960 to 2004.<br \/>\nVele, giro di boa: 1986<br \/>\nA solo show, organised by the Egyptian government and the Italian embassy was held in Cairo in Oct 2004, with paintings from 1970 to 2004.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2005<\/strong> he began a cycle of exhibitions in the USA and worked on two large marble low-reliefs dedicated to Pope John Paul II for the Borough of Noceto and inaugurated in April 2006. In this same year the Borough of Parma held an anthological show of his works and in 2008 he completed for this borough a sculpture in Carrara marble, over four metres high, dedicated to Italian peace missions in the world.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2008<\/strong> the Borough of Pisa organized an anthological show in the mediaeval abbey of San Zeno and in the following months he worked on 30 paintings dedicated to Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky for a cycle of exhibitions in Argentina.<br \/>\nHe was invited with three paintings to the show &#8220;Estetika, Forma e Segno, da Renoir a De Chirico&#8221; (&#8220;Aesthetics, Form and Sign, from Renoir to de Chirico&#8221;) at Villa Ponti in Arona, and with the Corsanini laboratory took part with six new sculptures in the XIIIth International Sculpture Biennale of Carrara. Five of his works were shown in the Manege Museum of St. Petersburg in the exhibition &#8220;Masters of 20th-century Italian Art&#8221;. In 2009 the Borough of Rapallo invited him to hold an anthological show in the ancient castle, with a section of 24 paintings dedicated to Ezra Pound.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2010<\/strong> a solo show was organised for him at the European Parliament of Strasbourg, which was later transferred to the Italian Institute of Culture in the same town. Next, in New York he showed a cycle of paintings on jazz at the Lincoln Center.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2011<\/strong> he held a solo show at the Monte Paschi bank in Brussels and was invited to the 54th Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion.<br \/>\nIn the same year in the Camec of La Spezia is ordered his retrospective exhibition with works from 1957 to 2011; the President of the Republic gives the honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2012<\/strong> the Castle of Portovenere is staged a retrospective of visual poems of the sixties and exhibited with Scanavino and Carmi in the exhibition &#8220;Before the Infinite&#8221; at Porto Mirabello.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2013<\/strong> realizes a Obelisk in Carrara marble top 7 meters to his hometown and a group of sculptures in wood for Speziaexp\u00f2; It is called the exhibition &#8220;Eight artists for Anlaids&#8221; to Pelanda Rome.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2014<\/strong> he took part in the exhibition and the Mus-e Foundation Carispe and takes care to Catalogue raisonn\u00e9 of his work (1957 to 2014) that the Publisher Allemandi entrusted to the art historian Valerio Deh\u00f2. <strong>In 2015<\/strong> he was invited to the XVII Biennial of Carpi.<br \/>\nThe Town Hall in Sarzana invited him to hold from October 2015 to January 2016 an anthological exhibition at the Firmafede Fortress and later the Contemporary Art Museum &#8211; Villa Croce in Genoa presented his single-subject exhibition dedicated to his experimental works and to his Visual Poems of the Sixties.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2016<\/strong> he created a public work for the city of La Spezia: the 7 &#8211; metre-high obelisk &#8220;Raggio di Sole&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;Sun Ray&#8221; &#8211; sculpted into Carrara marble.<br \/>\nHe presented 20 works at Camec on the occasion of the Group &#8217;63 50th anniversary &#8211; Group which Vaccarone promoted together with N. Balestrini, E. Sanguineti and U. Eco in La Spezia in 1966.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2017<\/strong> he exhibited 32 works belonging to the exhibition &#8220;Tra Lerice e Turb\u00eca&#8221; at Lerici Castle and at Sala Mantero in Portovenere.<br \/>\nIn the year 2018 he created 25 works dedicated to Wagner&#8217;s music. These were exhibited at the Art Gallery of Bayreuth Municipality in 2019 and then at the 58th Venice Biennale Art Exhibition.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2019<\/strong>, on the occasion of the centenary of the G. Capellini Academy of Sciences, he was appointed Academician.<br \/>\n<strong>In 2021<\/strong> the Municipality of Noceto entrusted him with the task of creating a marble sculpture dedicated to the Covid 19 pandemic and conferred him honorary citizenship.
